Security in Sherwood Forest

Sherwood Forest is proud to be one of the safest neighborhoods in metro Atlanta. This reputation is built on the vigilance of our residents and the proactive measures taken by the Sherwood Forest Civic Association (SFCA) to protect our neighbors, property, and visitors.  In addition, the following security measures help maintain a secure environment:

  • License Plate Readers: For enhanced monitoring and accountability, we maintain four active license plate readers—one at every entrance to the neighborhood.
  • Professional Patrols: We employ off-duty police officers who work random shifts to maximize coverage and provide a visible, professional security presence on our streets.

What to Do in a Security Incident

If you see something suspicious or experience an emergency, please follow these steps to ensure a coordinated response:

  1.  In an Emergency: Dial 911

For any immediate threat to life or property, always contact the Atlanta Police Department first by dialing 911.

  1. Contact SFCA Private Patrol

After contacting 911, reach out to our on-duty security officer. Note: Contact information for our current patrol officers can be found in the Online Resident Directory.

  1. Report to the SFCA Security Liaison

Once the immediate situation is resolved, please report the incident to our neighborhood security liaison. This allows the SFCA to track trends and coordinate with local law enforcement. Note: Liaison contact details are available in the Online Resident Directory.

Security Tips for Residents

  • Stay Informed: Ensure you are a member of the SFCA to receive real-time security alert emails.
  • Be Visible: Proudly display your SFCA Security Patrol yard sign to show that our neighborhood is actively monitored.
  • Close the Garage: Most neighborhood crimes are "crimes of opportunity." Keeping garage doors closed and car doors locked is our best collective defense.
